Nigerians Urged to Respect President Tinubu Amidst Controversy

A prominent Nigerian legal practitioner and philanthropist based in the United Kingdom, Professor Gaskin Igbineweka, has called on Nigerians to refrain from castigating and embarrassing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his alleged involvement in some legal matters in the United States.

In a press release issued in Benin City, Professor Igbineweka, who is also the President of the Nigerian Welfare Club in the United Kingdom, advised Nigerians to stop deriding the President, citing that by law, any conviction or crime committed by Tinubu in the US when he was there had been vitiated and his slate wiped clean.

As the President of the most populous black nation on Earth, Professor Igbineweka emphasized that Tinubu deserves respect as the number one citizen of Nigeria. He urged all Nigerians to accord him the dignity and respect he is entitled to.

Professor Igbineweka, an elder statesman, expressed his patriotism by stating that he would “back anybody who becomes the President in future, regardless of their political leaning or ethnic affiliation.” This statement underscores his commitment to the nation and its leadership.

The Professor’s plea comes amidst a brewing controversy surrounding President Tinubu’s alleged involvement in some legal issues in the United States. While some Nigerians have taken to social media and other public platforms to criticize and embarrass the President, Professor Igbineweka’s statement serves as a call to tone down the rhetoric and afford the President the respect due to his office.

As Nigerians continue to navigate the complexities of their country’s politics, Professor Igbineweka’s words of caution serve as a reminder of the need to maintain decorum and respect for the office of the President, even in the face of controversy.
